Ayurvedic Herbal Tea: Pitta Reducing
Hand blended in small batches in our Ayurvedic Apothecary. Roots and Ritual Pitta Reducing tea is a cooling combination of herbs and spices. Pitta dosha is governed by fire and water energy. When your Pitta is out of balance you may be feeling more anger, hate, jealousy, and short temperedness. You may also have heartburn, rashes, inflammation and hair loss. When Pitta dosha is in balance, you are more calm and level-headed, have abundant energy, easy digestion, and confidence.
Steep 1-2 teaspoons in 1 cup of boiling water for 7-10 minutes. Drink 3-6 cups per day. Do not exceed 6 cups in a 24-hour period.
Add raw, local honey or your favorite natural sweetener as desired.

Chamomile – Is said to soothe a painful moon cycle for gas, bloating, insomnia and to calm the nervous system. Chamomile also relives arthritis pain, oral problems, antioxidants to slow growth of cancer cells, and reduces blood sugar. Pacifies Pitta and Kapha.
Elder Berry - Elderberries are packed with antioxidants, flavonoids and anti-inflammatory agents that help fortify the immune system. They work to reduce viral and bacterial infections, relieve pain and promote healing of injuries as a poultice and skin tonic. Their bioactive enzymes also absorb carbohydrates and their antioxidants fight free radicals. Pacifies all doshas.
Fennel - Fennel excellent for digestion. It enhances the digestive fire or Agni. It is frequently used to treat menstrual cramps, gastritis, acid reflux, heartburn and indigestion.
Hibiscus Flower - Cools your liver, calms your metabolism and is loaded with antioxidants. Hibiscus can naturally increase the iron in your blood, be used as a hair growth tonic and as a skin tonic. It is an effective astringent and an ease painful menstruations. Balancing for Pitta and Kapha.
Lavender - Medicinal and therapeutic uses include nerve tonic, arthritis, rheumatism, eye disorders, migraine, insomnia, headache, skin infections and as a hair tonic. Pacifies Pitta and Kapha.
Lemon Balm Leaf - Promotes longevity, and renews vigor and youthfulness of an individual. It also has antispasmodic, antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal benefits. Studies have shown to have positive effects on Alzheimer’s. Opens pores and helps heal skin and other inflammations.
Lemongrass - Therapeutic properties include antiseptic, anti-rheumatic, diuretic, anti-inflammatory, astringent, analgesic, sedative, deodorant, nervine, antimicrobial, antimicrobial and antidepressant. Used or menstrual cramps, high blood pressure, and can eliminate toxic substances from your vital organs.
Lemon Peel - Lemon soothes headaches and is very helpful for rheumatism and arthritis. It can clear acne, greasy skin and hair, removes dead skin cells, eases cold sores and improves the digestive system. It boosts the immune system and improves the functions of the digestive system. Pacifies Pitta and Kapha.
Licorice Root - Has anti-ulcer, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antispasmodic qualities. It has been used to soothe digestive upsets and to soothe mucous membranes (a demulcent) and therefore is wonderful for soothing your sore throat.
Oatstraw - Oatstraw is traditionally used in herbal baths that treat spasms, nervous disorders, joint pain and skin disorders. It is also a strong nerve tonic, enhances libido, and is supportive in treating addictions. It has also been used throughout every stage of menstruation, pregnancy & menopause. Oatstraw nourishes the skin, pancreas, liver and replenishes the adrenal glands.
Red Clover Flower - Red Clover mimics estrogen and may reduce hot flashes, lower cholesterol, slow bone loss and even boost bone mineral density. It is also packed full of nutrients like calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, thiamine, and Vitamin C.
Red Raspberry Leaf - A herb full of Vitamins C, E, A and B. Red Raspberry Leaf is also packed with minerals like magnesium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus; and includes trace minerals like zinc, iron, chromium and manganese. It is a cooling, drying and astringent herb that relieves menstrual cramps, promotes fertility, and prepares pregnant women for birth.
Rose Petals - Are known to be cooling, anti-inflammatory, relieve menstrual cramps, help boost the immune system, and enhance sexual libido. They cleanse toxins, balance emotions, and nourish all seven dhatus (body tissues) on the body. Pacifies Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
